Right-Click (Context Menu)

2 min read

Keyboard-free shortcuts that turn any page into a launchpad for audits, SERP tweaks, and external lookups—no popup required.

How to Open

  • Right-click the page and choose Sprout SEO Extension.
  • Some entries are browser-dependent (e.g., JavaScript toggle) and may be hidden if the API is unavailable.

What’s Included

  • Rich Results & Schema: Open Google Rich Results Test or Schema.org Validator for the current URL.
  • JavaScript & Rendered Source: Toggle JavaScript on/off (where supported) and view rendered source.
  • Link tooling: Highlight internal/external links; run quick site: and -inurl: Google searches.
  • Speed tests: Send the page to WebPageTest, GTMetrix, PageSpeed Insights, or Lighthouse.
  • SERP helpers: Remove Google breadcrumbs; show position numbers on results.
  • External lookups: Jump to Ahrefs, SE Ranking, Archive.org, BuzzSumo, Majestic, Moz, Semrush, SimilarWeb, and Sistrix for the current site.
  • Learn more: Open Sprout SEO resources.

Workflow Wins (why this is faster)

  • Launch validators and speed tests without opening the popup—best for rapid triage when you’re mid-browse.
  • Context-aware links prefill the current page/domain, cutting copy/paste steps for external tools.
  • JavaScript toggle + rendered source give instant “with/without JS” comparisons for troubleshooting cloaking, hydration, or client-side rendering.
  • Link highlighting + site: / -inurl: searches speed up IA checks and manual SERP spot-audits.
  • Indexability sweep: Open Rich Results + Schema validators, then x-robots/meta in popup if needed.
  • Performance poke: Fire PageSpeed + WebPageTest in parallel while you stay on the page.
  • Cloaking sniff test: Toggle JS off, view rendered source, re-enable, compare.
  • Link sanity: Highlight internal vs. external to spot mis-wired navs; run site: to confirm indexing surface.

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • If the menu is missing, reload the extension or reinstall to rebuild context menus.
  • JavaScript toggle only appears when the browser exposes the required API; otherwise you’ll just see “View Rendered Source.”
  • Each action opens in a new tab; allow pop-ups for smoother use.
  • Restricted surfaces (web stores, chrome://, file://, some SERPs) may hide or no-op certain actions; try a regular HTTPS page to confirm.
